Design is an enormous field that caters to many careers for an individual. It keeps changing with time, making space for new ideas. From cars to toothbrushes, design plays a big role in order to attract customers.

When various elements of design are brought together into a coherent whole, its called Integrated design. For example, when a company undergoes a brand redesign, they change their logo, typography and colours. That will require them updating their brand identity, such as, representing their website, company letterhead, packaging and transportation as well as advertising, marketing materials and interior design. Rather than having a group of people who would do this work, companies look for one person to do this whole process. This is Integrated design. Some of the essential skills that an integrated designer requires are expertise and experience in a variety of fields.

The scope of Integrated design is spread out to fields like New Media, Information and Interface design and Digital design. One can find jobs in these careers as Information architect, Interaction designer,Service designer and Experience designer and User interface designer.

Colleges like NID provide B.Des and M.Des programs in Interaction design and Information design and Design for Retail Experience. University of Innsbruck in Austria, Lindholmshamnen in Sweden, Kobra in Slovenia, Hotel  Golden Tulip Zakopane are some buildings which have incorporated Integrated design well.
