The UCEED 2018 exam took place on January 28th, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm. The reactions were mixed, some claiming it to be a moderately difficult while others complained that it was quite time consuming.

The often covered concepts such as fonts, counting of shapes, puzzles etc were featured heavily this year as well. Geometrical concepts as well as spatial reasoning questions were also asked extensively. Design general knowledge was also given weightage since questions asking for the chronological order of Picasso’s paintings appeared in the paper. This could be answered correctly only if the candidate did in-depth and thorough research into topics like art history.

The marking scheme and the exam pattern was similar to the previous years, therefore no difficulties were faced in that aspect. All the three different sections were apparently of moderate difficulty, but since the scope of the syllabus was so broad there were strengths and pressure points for everyone. The computer based format of the exam was received well by all the students, some claiming it to be easier and more time-saving as compared to written exams.

Overall, the students who had written the NID DAT test as well, a common occurence, agreed that it was harder as compared to the UCEED.
