About The Design Village

The Design Village (TDV) is an industrycentric design institution, offering UGC-approved B Des and M Des degree programmes in collaboration with O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU). Established in 2014, The Design Village (TDV) has a Forbes’ award-winning campus located in the heart of the Industrial District of Noida, with 65+ faculty joining hands to bring an unmatched academic knowledge and cutting-edge industry experience to its 350+ students, training them to transform the world through design. O.P. Jindal Global University is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary and research oriented university founded in 2009, ranked as India’s #1 Private University for three years in a row by QS World University Rankings. In 2020, JGU was recognised as an ‘Institution of Eminence’ by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Pedagogy

1. Experiential Learning - TDV follows an immersive pedagogy to educate designers. Students are taken through activities for self development, community engagement etc., as a part of credited experiential learning courses every semester.
2. Industry Projects - All design projects at TDV are real life projects, organised as a part of the curriculum. The design briefs are provided by the companies, non-profit organisations, researchers etc., and students engage with real clients to understand their needs, propose solutions, and execute ideas.
3. Course Baskets - Baskets deal with understanding design. TDV offers courses across eight baskets covering a range of theoretical and practical aspects, including Designing for Experience, Design Methods & Theory, Ways of Reading Context etc.

Bachelor of Design (B.Des)

Specialisations

1. Fashion & Textile Design - Fashion and Textile Design degree programmes at The Design Village (TDV) merge the two seemingly specialist fields of fashion and textile design into one with a focus on their inherent relationship. The programmes offer students an industry-centric blend of technical and creative skill sets, critical to excel in the competitive fashion industry. The education at TDV aims to prepare graduates for the future of fashion, and the courses under these programmes are run with an inherent focus on Circular Fashion and Future Textiles.
2. Communication & Interaction Design - Communication and Interaction Design degree programmes at The Design Village (TDV) emphasize on the creative and technological abilities to prepare designers who work across traditional and modern mediums, applying themselves to create print media as well as interactive digital products, systems and services. The programmes offer students an industry-centric blend of skillsets, critical to excel in the competitive and rapidly evolving communication and interaction design industry. The education at TDV aims to prepare graduates for the future, and the courses under these programmes are run with an inherent focus on Branding and New Media Design.
3. Product & Industrial Design - Product and Industrial Design degree programmes at The Design Village (TDV) train students on the end-to-end product design process, right from understanding the user, ideating solutions, creating prototypes, to delivering finished products of both hand-held and industrial scales including automobile, furniture etc. The programmes offer students an industry-centric blend of thinking and making skill sets, critical to excel in a highly technical product and industrial design industry. The education at TDV aims to prepare product and industrial design professionals for the future, and the courses under these programmes are run with an inherent focus on Digital Fabrication and Material Practices.

Space & Interior Design - Space and Interior Design degree programmes at The Design Village (TDV) focus on imagination and realisation of the built environment by imparting a creative mindset and real-world exposure of buildings, exhibitions, installations, and other forms of space. The programmes offer students an industry-centric blend of imagination and realization skills, critical to excel in the competitive space and interior design industry. The education at TDV aims to prepare design professionals for the future, and the courses under these programmes are run with an inherent focus on Interior Architecture and the larger Built Environment.
