MIT Institute of Design, Alandi - Pune offers a four-year Bachelor of Design course affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).

MIT Institute of Design, Alandi - Pune was established in 2020, and the first batch of students from the academic year 2020-21 had started as per schedule in online mode. The design curriculum at MITID, Alandi evolved under the Chief mentorship of Prof. Uday Athavankar – Former HOD Industrial Design Centre, Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai and other experts from industry and academia. We are also closely mentored by the MIT Institute of Design, Loni.

The MIT Institute of Design shares a common campus with MITAOE which connects technology with design. A unique blend of Technology-Driven Design curriculum is the basic mantra of MIT ID, Alandi which will make the learners professionally equipped to face the challenges of the industry. The entire program involves project-based learning pedagogy where the learners will immerse themselves in creating an innovative mindset to solve complex problems of the real world.

MIT Academy of Engineering (MITAOE) has emerged as one of the formidable autonomous institutions providing quality education in various professional courses affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University for the last 20 years. The institute endeavours to impart holistic education to its students to contribute to their all-around development. In our constant pursuit of educational excellence, we have established the MIT School of Design last year.

MIT Institute of design, Alandi-Pune and MITAOE are part of the MIT Group of Institutions under MAEER’s Pune. Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) is the first private Engineering Institute to be established in the city of Pune, Maharashtra. Specializations:

Product Design

Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Product Design course is evolved along with experts from industry & academia. Similar to other premier Product Design Institutes in India, the Product Design program at MIT School of Design will make the learners professionally equipped to lead in the industries.

The Product Design Program offers the learner to understand the various approaches, processes, and systems to address human needs by creating tangible products. In the various courses that the learners pursue, the emphasis is on learning-by-doing and following a comprehensive process of designing, producing, and marketing products, systems, and services. The courses covered in the Program make the students understand concepts like Design Ethnography, Design Research, Ergonomics, Design Process, Strength of Materials, History of Design, Green Design, Sustainable Design, and System Design. The course promises to emphasize holistic learning.

User experience Design

Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in the User Experience Design Program offers the learners to understand various approaches, processes, and systems to address human needs by creating solutions for industry-specific requirements, the betterment of health, and social life. At every stage, the emphasis is on learning-by-doing and following comprehensive user research by using appropriate tools and techniques for understanding needs and gap analysis. Few courses are technical wherein the students are given hands-on training on visual design prototyping tools and coding using software to create prototypes of their solutions and conduct usability testing to validate the effectiveness of their proposed solution.

The main courses taught are Visual Interface Design, UX Design Methods, User Study, Usability Engineering, Tangible Interaction Design, Research Methods, and Techniques. There are conceptual courses like Design for Special Needs and Design for 2050 in which emerging trends for Design Futures, Speculative Design, Universal Design, and Inclusive Design are explored.

The graduating students have opportunities to work in Industries based on Artificial intelligence, Augmented reality, virtual reality, Internet of Things, Gaming, software, Mobile, Automobile UX and many more.

Communication Design

Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Communication Design courses introduces students to various communication media like Graphics, motion graphics, interaction, and Animation-film broadly. The study covers fundamentals of typography and type design, illustration and photography, packaging and print design, signage design, and corporate identity systems. The application of Information Technology would take students into fields of computer graphics, multimedia, and web design. Using software like Sound Forge, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, and Combustion for the Graphic Design project they will learn how to apply design principles, to create, to combine, and to publish/broadcast various messages into the digital environment or physical world effectively & meaningfully.

Eligibility:

• All India Council for Technical education ( AICTE) has approved to run a Bachelor of Design program at MITAOE campus with Bachelor of Design certification awarded by Savitribai Phule Pune University ( SPPU).
• MIT Institute of design, Alandi-Pune, MITAOE is the first institute where a Bachelor of Design certificate is awarded by SPPU.
• Admission process will be done centrally through the CET cell of Maharashtra state. CET cell also conducts entrance exams for BE, BTech, B Pharmacy, B Architecture for Graduate and Post graduate courses.
• Students appearing for MAH AAC CET entrance exam which is conducted by Directorate of Arts, Maharashtra state will only be eligible for admission at MIT school of Design, MITAOE, Pune.
