About World University of Design

The World University of Design was established in 2018, under the Haryana Private University Act 2006, with the right to confer degrees under sections 2(f) and 22(I) of the UGC Act.

The World University of Design has emerged as the"premier go-to-destination" for education in arts, architecture & design.

WUD has been ranked as an A+ Grade university in Outcome Based Education by World Institutional Ranking. WUD is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities.

FACULTY

WUD takes pride in the quality of its faculty which comprises of well-qualified professionals who have been educated and trained at prestigious institutes such as LCF - London, FIT - New York, De Montfort University UK, IIT, NID, NIFT, SPA and Delhi College of Art among others. All faculty members are working professionals who are actively engaged with the industry.




FACILITIES

In keeping with the University's vision, its 12-acre lush campus houses state-of-the-art imaging systems & workshops, Apple iMAC digital & media lab, photo & film studios, sound & video editing, animation & game design studio, AR-VR studio, well-equipped machine shops & maker-rooms, rapid prototyping, printmaking, pattern- making, garment construction, dyeing & printing and ceramic studios; well-equipped library & materials library as also an art gallery.




LIFE AT WUD

With students representing 22 states of India, WUD acknowledges diversity among its students and the importance of cultural & social activities in improving the personality, enhancing communication skills and building a positive, progressive global outlook. Many clubs like Film, Photography, Dance, Music, CSR, Sports, Gaming Dramatics etc. are active at the university. WUD annual fest, named CULT, attracts participation from over 70 colleges internationally for its design & creative events. WUD Campus is also a hub of intellectual activities. WUD hostels provide an opportunity to live on campus and make friends for life. Separate full-board twin and three-sharing rooms with attached bathrooms are available. Over 60% of WUD students stay on campus.

WUD faculty maintains powerful alliances with employers and industry partners that enable students to leverage opportunities to showcase their acquired skills. Multiple MoUs have been signed with some of the best studios in the country, opening possibilities for placements, industry projects, and internships. The placements till 2021 were 92% with the remaining opting for higher education and incubation. For 2022, pre-placement offers are already streaming in with the top package so far being 24 LPA. The list of some well-known brands visiting WUD for placements includes — Amazon, Whirlpool, KPMG, Capgemini, Benetton, Human Factors International, Pepperfry, AJIO, Max Fashion (Landmark Group), Milton, Kangaroo, Cognizant, TATA Class edge, Studio Lotus, JLL, EX2 India and over 100 other companies.




GLOBAL REPUTATION

WUD is the youngest Indian university to have been awarded and completed an ERASMUS + capacity building grant where it worked with a consortium of international partner universities including Brunel University, UK; Politecnico di Milano, Italy; and University of Aegean, Greece.

WUD has international exchange agreements with leading education institutions like Vancouver Film School & Emily Carr University (Canada); the University of Huddersfield, Winchester, Reading & Oxford Brookes University (UK); ENSAIT (France), HAMK (Finland), University of Nicosia (Cyprus), University of Utrecht (Netherlands), Universidad De Monterrey & UPAEP (Mexico); University of California, Berkeley, and College of Creative Studies, Michigan (USA). WUD students go for their semester exchange with these universities every year.

WUD is also a member of Cumulus, the international body of design institutions. WUD hosts the prestigious Global Goals Jam Delhi every year in association with UNDP and MediaLab Amsterdam. It also runs the Delhi NCR chapter of Speculative Futures. WUD is a member of an international consortium “Design across Cultures” based out of the Netherlands and has partners from the USA, Brazil, Germany, Italy and Korea etc. WUD organises a biannual International Conference on ' Functional Textiles & Clothing' in association with IIT Delhi. Faculty from renowned institutions regularly come to WUD to share their knowledge and expertise with students.

The School of Design programs is about creativity for purpose - educating students to be design leaders who address real-world challenges through balancing high levels of creativity and technical capability with contextual insight and empathy for people. The curriculum provides a platform for students to conceptualize and validate ideas by canvassing, provoking, challenging and questioning people, places, things and systems. Through team and individual projects involving external partners and tutored by practising designers and design researchers, students determine their own design culture whilst building a portfolio of work that will locate them in their desired professional context. Graduates are creative catalysts and visionaries who go on to become leaders in their respective fields.

School of Fashion offers courses developed to nurture the next generation of fashion designers, stylists, buyers, journalists and design managers. The programmes will prepare you for a successful career as a fashion product designer and developer able to explore and exploit cutting-edge technology and aesthetics for clothing and textiles.

School of Communication

The school offers various programs in the field of Visual Communication such as a four-year undergraduate program in Graphic Communication Design, Animation and Game Design, Film and Video and a two-year post-graduate program in Graphic Communication Design. The school also offers a one-year diploma program in Graphic and Web Design and a one-year diploma in Photography. All the programs are designed with the vision to inculcate a deep understanding of Design and technology in the field of design with a specific emphasis towards graphic communication, animation, and web & game design.

All the courses aim at developing the students’ thought process towards understanding the requirements of the people in consideration, identifying opportunities for innovation, developing ideas and ultimately realizing solutions as a holistic process of consciously evolving as a thinker and a developer of ideas that could make a difference as well as effectively communicate the solutions in the most appropriate manner.

The detailed classroom sessions impart core visual, creative, technical and analytical skills, along with definitive knowledge about visual materials technologies, manufacturing processes, trends and sustainability concepts in Visual Communication. The experience of workshops, internships and industry projects at the end of each semester adds much-needed industry exposure and makes the students aware of the latest technologies, developing skills for industry preparedness and enhancement of learning.

Visual Arts represent wide-ranging areas of artistic practices in which Creative painting, environmental art and technology-based arts are being given primary importance. The School of Visual Arts is a space where practices traditional and non-traditional methods of art-making are nurtured and developed within conceptually and methodologically strong structures.

At SVA we believe in mentorship with a constant push towards experimentation and innovation. Specializations in specific branches and cross-disciplinary studies are the distinctive nature of our courses.
